COWA Plants 100 Trees, Donates 12 Dustbin Containers In Kebbi

The Kebbi State Chapter of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) has planted about 100 trees with a view to tackling the menace of desertification in the state.

The chapter, accordingly, also donated 12 large dustbin containers for proper waste disposal and recycling of plastic wastes in the Customs offices and other domestic places in the state.

Speaking during plantation programme held on Thursday at the Customs headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, COWA chairperson, Mrs Farida Mahmoud Matawalle said “we are not just planting trees but, we are planting hope, sustainability and a healthier future for our environment and our nation.”

According to her, across Nigeria, COWA at the national level is undertaking a powerful initiative to plant 1,000 trees which was already performed by the COWA President, Mrs Kikelomo Basheer Adeniyi which her leadership and vision continued to drive this impactful initiative across the country.

“In line with COWA’s Green initiative and our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, we are donating 12 large dustbin containers for proper waste disposal and recycling, especially for plastic wastes in all parts of the Customs’ environments in Kebbi State,” said Mrs Matawalle.

“I must commend the efforts of my husband, the Customs Comptroller in Kebbi, Mahmoud Matawalle for his immense support and cooperation in making this exercise a success,” she noted further.
