Bauchi Sports Council Dedicates Medals To Governor, State EXCO Members

The management of Bauchi State Sports Council has dedicated the gold medals won by the state athletes at the just concluded 3rd National Para Games in Abuja, to Governor Bala Mohammed, as well the silver and bronze medals to members of the state executive council.

Bauchi State Director of Sports, Alhaji Ado Tanko informed sports journalists in his office on Friday, that “the management of the Bauchi state Sports Council has decided to dedicate the 16 medals won during the national Para Games in Abuja to Governor Bala Mohammed and his council members in appreciation for the approval of establishing Bauchi state sports commission recently.

He said the importance and advantages of creating the Bauchi State Sports Commission can not be over emphasized as it serves as promotion of sports as a tool for unity, wellness and international corporation, exploring areas of collaboration, particularly in sports development, youth engagement and social development.

“The creation of State Sports Commission also reaffirmed Governor Bala administration’s collective belief in the power of sports to unite, inspire and drive national transformation,” the Director said.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his commitment in promoting sports and healthy living in the state, noting that such initiatives align with vision of encouraging youth participation, physical fitness and global best practice.

“This outstanding efforts reflect Governor Bala Mohammed’s visionary leadership in using sports as an instrument for youth empowerment, crime reduction and economic development, not only in Bauchi state but North East and Nigeria as a whole”.

While appreciating the good working relationships with the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, under Hon. Adamu Gabarin, Ado Tanko assured government and sports loving people in the state, of the commitment of both management and athletes to reciprocating the huge investment in sports. Especially with the establishment of the new sports commission.

The Director of Sports used the opportunity to express gratitude to the national body of the Sports Writer Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for finding Governor Bala Mohammed worthy of national SWAN Merit award as Distinguished Governor in Sports Development, during SWAN@60 held in Abuja in October, 2025.
