Customs Operation Whirlwind Zone B Arrests Tanker With 45,000 Litres of Fuel

The National Coordinating office of the Operation Whirlwind Zone B, incharge of Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States has declared that it has arrested a tanker-load of 45,000 litres of PMS suspected to belong to smugglers.

Briefing newsmen on Thursday at the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi State Command in Birnin Kebbi, the Coordinator of the Operation Whirlwind and Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Abubakar Lucky Aliyu said his team had also made a seizure of another 22,250 Litres of PMS in Galons along Bagudo, Tsamiya border axis in Bagudo Local Government area of Kebbi State.

According to him, the seizures were put at with duty paid value of over 21 million Naira.

He lamented that the act by smugglers is crippling the nation’s economy.

The National Coordinator of the Operation, however warned smugglers in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States to desist or face his anger which will entail the arrest of their smuggled commodities and even their vehicles.

The tanker and Jerrycans loaded with PMS have been handed over to both the Upstream and Downstream regulatory authorities in Birnin Kebbi Command of the NCS.
