NUGA: FG pledges N1bn for UNIJOS To Complete Sports Facilities

The Federal Government has pledged one billion Naira to the University of Jos to enable the institution complete its various sports facilities.

NUGA’s technical committee chairman, Professor Musa Garba Yakasai, dropped the hint at the opening ceremony of the NUGA Games which attracted dignitaries including the Governor of Plateau state, Caleb Mutfwang and his counterpart from Ondo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

According to the chairman, the fund will be released through the TETFUND as part of the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment towards the overall development of sports in the country.

He added that over 91 universities are currently competing in 23 events with over 7000 athletes and 2000 match officials for the games.

Professor Musa Garba Yakasai who doubles as the chairman, Sports Committee of the Bayero University Kano (BUK), commended President Bola Ahmad Tinubu, the Minister of Education and the National Sports Commission NSC, led by Mallam Shehu Dikko and other major partners for their unwavering support financially and morally towards the actualization of the set objectives.

”On behalf of NUGA executive members, we really appreciate the Plateau State Governor and other state governments for rescuing and supporting the Jos University and NUGA respectively,” he added.

The chairman however, called on the participants to abide by the rules and regulations governing the firsta towards a smooth and hitch-free games.

The chairman warned that the organisers will not condone indiscipline capable of tarnishing the good image of the Games.

Professor Musa Garba Yakasai then announced that the best athletes would be selected ahead of the next edition of World University Games.
