Manchester United Handed Major Injury Boost Ahead of Tottenham Clash
According to a report by The Sun on Tuesday September 29, 2026, Manchester United have received encouraging news regarding Amad Diallo, with the winger reportedly on course to make his first appearance of the season when the Red Devils face Tottenham after the international break.
The 24-year-old has been unavailable since suffering a minor injury shortly before United’s opening league fixture against Hull City. The setback prevented him from featuring during the early stages of the campaign.
Amad had participated in four of United’s six pre-season matches before the injury interrupted his preparations. He was subsequently ruled out of the team’s Premier League meeting with Fulham on September 20.
However, the Ivory Coast international now appears to be approaching a return. Amad recently posted an image from his previous appearance at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest on Instagram, alongside emojis suggesting that his comeback could be approaching.
The winger’s potential availability would provide United with another attacking option as they prepare for their first match following the international break. Tottenham are scheduled to visit Old Trafford next Saturday.
Amad’s return could be particularly useful because United have already dealt with several injury problems during the opening weeks of the season. Luke Shaw and Benjamin Sesko are among those who have missed matches because of fitness concerns.
Sesko has also been absent from Slovenia’s squad for a fourth consecutive international gathering, leaving uncertainty over whether he will recover sufficiently to face Tottenham.
The striker has been managing a shin problem that troubled him last season. His condition reportedly worsened after he was pushed off the pitch during United’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool on May 3.
With Sesko and Marcus Rashford currently receiving treatment, Amad’s return could give United manager additional options in attack for the Tottenham encounter.
United’s forwards have shared the scoring responsibility so far this season, with Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha each registering two goals. Youngster Shea Lacey also scored on his full debut against Brighton, while Rashford is still searching for his first goal.
