2015: We Received $500,000 Each From Gates For Having The Best Healthcare System In SW – Adeleke

In a recent interview on Channels TV, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, recalled the state’s healthcare performance in 2015 and spoke about recognition and funding received during that period.
Adeleke stated, “We received $500,000 each from Bill Gates for having the best healthcare system in the Southwest.” He made the statement while highlighting what he described as evidence of the state’s strong healthcare performance at the time.
According to Adeleke, the recognition was connected to the performance of the healthcare system in the Southwest. He recalled that Osun was among those that received financial support from the Bill Gates initiative.
The governor used the experience to emphasise the importance of maintaining effective healthcare services and ensuring that public resources are directed towards programmes that benefit residents.
Adeleke also reflected on the progress his administration has made since taking office. He said his government remains focused on improving sectors that directly affect the wellbeing of people across Osun State.
He maintained that healthcare remains an important component of governance and that his administration would continue to pay attention to the needs of residents.
He concluded that the experience from 2015 remains a significant reference point in discussions about Osun’s healthcare system and the state’s record in the sector.
