Yobe South stakeholders reassert support, loyalty for Governor Buni

…Showcase Developmental Milestones

Stakeholders across Yobe South Senatorial Zone have once again reaffirmed their unwavering support and loyalty for His Excellency, (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, highlighting the remarkable transformation the zone has experienced under his purposeful leadership.

A statement by Yusuf Ali, the Focal Person Digital and Strategic Communication to Governor Buni said that, during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Damagum, political figures, and youth representatives applauded the governor’s commitment to grassroots development, social inclusion and sustainable progress.

They presented an extensive catalogue of developmental achievements across health, education, infrastructure, housing, commerce, energy, water and agriculture in Yobe South.

In the areas of health sector transformation, stakeholders emphasized Gov. Buni’s deliberate efforts to strengthen healthcare in the zone. These include the construction of modern Primary Health Care Centres in all 44 political wards, upgrading of General Hospital, Potiskum, to a Specialist Hospital and provision of modern medical equipment and drugs across General Hospitals in Fika, Fune, and Nangere LGAs.

Additionally, all 44 ward health centres have been equipped with contemporary healthcare facilities and essential medications.

On roads and urban development, the governor’s commitment to infrastructure growth was highlighted through the construction of 5km township roads in Fika, Nangere, and Fune Local Government Headquarters, as well as over 25km of roads within Potiskum metropolis. Strategic inter-community roads connecting key towns — including Danchuwa-Kolere-Jajere, Fika-Maluri, and Potiskum-Degubi — have also been completed, enhancing trade, mobility and interconnectivity across the zone.

Also, in education, Gov. Buni’s administration has invested heavily in human capital. Modern mega primary schools have been constructed in each Local Government Area, while classrooms, offices and furniture have been provided for all primary and secondary schools across the 44 wards.

The College of Administration and Business Studies (CABS) Potiskum has been upgraded and reconstructed as the College of Administration and Management Technology (CAMTECH), and several students have been sponsored for foreign education. Employment opportunities for BSc, HND, ND, and NCE holders have also been created across the zone.

Under Gov. Buni, Yobe South has witnessed significant housing development, with 500 housing units constructed in Potiskum, and additional units delivered in Fika, Gadaka, Nangere, Damagum and Ngelzarma. These projects aim to address housing deficit and provide modern, affordable accommodation for residents.

On economic empowerment and commercial development, the Governor has facilitated economic growth through the construction of modern markets in Potiskum and Ngalda, a modern trailer park and motor park in Potiskum and Jajere, as well as a modern shopping complex also in Jajere.

Investments in agro-processing and industrial revival, including the establishment of a sesame cleaning and processing factory and the reconstruction of aluminum and flour milling companies in Potiskum, have further strengthened local commerce and job creation.

Power, water and agricultural development, are all what Yobe South communities now enjoy with improved access to electricity through rural electrification projects and solar-powered streetlights in key towns. Solar-powered boreholes have also been installed to ensure reliable water supply. Through agricultural empowerment initiatives, farmers have been equipped with modern farming tools, boosting productivity during both dry and rainy seasons.

The stakeholders’ meeting highlighted that the landmark achievements reflect Gov. Buni’s unwavering dedication to equitable development, grassroots inclusion and sustainable progress.

Yobe South Senatorial Zone has witnessed unprecedented growth in infrastructure, human capital and socio-economic opportunities, reaffirming the Governor’s reputation as a unifier, reformer and architect of modern Yobe State.
