Suspected Gunmen snatch 2-month-old baby in Delta

A two-month-old baby has reportedly been abducted by suspected gunmen operating with a commercial tricycle along the NNPC Bypass by Airport Road, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Reports said that the incident, occurred on Monday afternoon, throwing residents and commuters along the busy route into shock, raising fresh concerns over public safety in the area.

The abduction reportedly took place in broad daylight near the traffic light by Delta Careers College, an area usually bustling with vehicular and human activities.

Narrating her ordeal to journalists, mother of the abducted baby, Mrs Rita Oghale, said the incident happened at about 4pm while she was returning home with her children after boarding a tricycle from Shaguolor Junction to Airport Road.

She explained that aside from herself and her two children, there were two other passengers, a man and a woman seated at the back of the tricycle.

According to Mrs Oghale, trouble started when the tricycle got to the NNPC Bypass near the Delta Careers College fence, just before the traffic light, when the male passenger suddenly brought out a gun and pointed it at her.

She further said the armed man demanded that she hands over her two-month-old baby and, before she could react, he forcefully dragged the child from her arms.

Mrs Oghale further stated that during the attack, the suspect collected her phone then pushed her and her other child out of the tricycle, and immediately sped off with the baby named Riches Oghale.

The distraught mother disclosed that the incident has been reported at the Police Station for investigation and possible rescue of the child.

She appealed to members of the public to assist with any useful information that could lead to the discovery of her baby, urging anyone with relevant details to contact the nearest Police Station or any security agency, while expressing hope that the child would be rescued unharmed.
