Sallah: Yobe Police Command Warns Against False Alarm

By Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The Yobe State Police Command recognizes the important role of social media, conventional media outlets and public communication in shaping societal development and enhancing security within the state.
However, recent incidents — particularly at Eid prayer grounds — where false alarms triggered panic among worshippers, have become a matter of serious concern.
In a press statement by SP Dungus Abdulkareem who is the spokesperson of the Command, he said that the Command notes with concern, the devastating consequences of false alarms in crowded places. Such actions not only undermine public confidence but may also lead to tragic outcomes, including injuries or loss of life due to stampedes.
In view of this, members of the public are strongly advised to refrain from raising false alarms. If any suspicious activity or object is noticed, individuals are urged to discreetly inform security operatives present for prompt response and possible coordinated evacuation, if necessary.
Furthermore, the public is cautioned against spreading unverified or misleading information capable of creating fear, confusion, or panic. Citizens are encouraged to verify information through appropriate authorities before dissemination.
The Command also calls on Eid prayer ground committees to work closely with conventional and quasi-security outfits to ensure proper planning and coordination. Adequate security personnel will be deployed across all designated prayer grounds to guarantee safety.
The Command reiterates its warning against the spread of false information, rumors, or any content capable of causing public disorder.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, psc, fdc, congratulates the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and extends warm felicitations on the occasion of the Sallah celebrations.
Security remains a collective responsibility. The Command urges all residents to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration and beyond.
