Rigata 2026: Publicity Committee Visits Media, Seeks Support

As preparations for the 2026 Yauri Rigata Cultural and Heritage Festival in Kebbi State gathers momentum, the publicity committee of the event, led by the Ubandoman Yauri, Abubakar Sa’idu, has visited some media houses, seek their support and cooperation towards the success of the event.

The media houses visited include Kebbi Radio, Kebbi State Television and Equity FM station.

During the visit, Abubakar Sa’idu reiterated the importance of media in terms of information dissemination, especially as it regards the forthcoming programme.

He appealed to the head of the management of the media organisations to endeavour to make the upcoming 2026 Rigata Cultural Festival scheduled to hold in the ancient town of Yauri under the Yauri Emirate Council of Yauri Local Government of Kebbi State a success.

Speaking with some journalists in Birnin Kebbi, Ubandoma disclosed that this year’s Rigata Festival has been fixed for between February 4 and 7 and expected to be graced by many dignitaries and spectators featuring among others, water plays and manoeuvres by indigenes from different parts of Kebbi State and the country.

He added that the event showcases the importance of the Yauri Emirate’s rich cultural heritage and abundant agricultural and natural resources as well as diverse water sports of the locals which started 100 years ago, as demonstrated by major ethnic groups such as Kambari, Gungawa and Dukkuwa who lived in the main land of the state.

Ubandoma also noted that the Rigata Festival is organised annually by the Emirate Council under the supervision of the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi.
