Paul Bassey Outlines Importance Of Healthy Lifestyle

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Sports, Paul Bassey, has reiterated the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and regular exercises as key to good health.

Bassey gave the antedote while commenting on the Independence Fitness Festival Season 5:0 which took place Saturday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.

The Commissioner, who expressed delight at the turnout to exercise, described the event as historic and the best of its kind in the state and commended the organisers of the fitness exercise, and pledged the Akwa Ibom State government’s commitment to enhancing sports development in the state.

“Today’s event is historic. The best of its kind and further adds in the growth of Sports Tourism for Akwa Ibom State. We must be intentional about a healthy lifestyle, being fit and regular exercises and I commend the organisers for their consistency over the years in driving this vision. This is a movement and I want to assure that the Akwa Ibom State Government will continue to support the growth of significant programmes as this.

“I’m very impressed with the turnout at this event. Governor Umo Eno is committed to sports development in Akwa Ibom State and the Ministry of Sports will ensure that we have regular events that will discover more talents and win more laurels,” Elder Paul Bassey added.

He said the Ministry of Sports would continue to partner programmes that will identify the best talents and enhance sports development in line with the templates of the focal points of the ARISE Agenda.

The Akwa Ibom Fitness Festival, convened by Coach Saviour Archibong “Apostle” attracts thousands of fitness lovers every first week in October to gather in Uyo, partaking in various programmes in promoting healthy living and lifestyle.

Other attractions at the event which took place at the Flairmore Event Centre were medical checks for high blood pressure, sugar level checks, diabetes amongst others.

It attracted dignitaries from all walks of life with major sponsors.
