No Going Back on Tinubu’s Re-election – Siddiki

The national coordinator of the Movement for Equity in Nigeria (MEN), Alhaji Gidado Siddiki has said his group will continue to mobilize support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that only such can guarantee fairness on power rotation in the country.

Addressing journalists in Awka, Siddiki called for the strengthening of the nation’s democratic process by endorsing two terms for a sitting president with a solid blueprint for equity, peace, and development in the country.
Describing the Renewed Hope agenda of the Tinubu administration as “holistic and enduring,” he said, “We cannot afford denying the South another tenure this time around, as such is capable of truncating our democracy and setting the nation backwards.

“We all know that there’s never a perfect blueprint for governing any nation in the world, and the agenda of the Tinubu administration is not different in this case. So, having critically studied the components of this agenda with the milestones recorded by the administration so far, our group believes that the nation is on the right path to progress and prosperity,” he said.

On the lingering insecurity across Nigeria, Siddiki said, “The federal government alone cannot end this disturbing situation, as all hands must be on deck with all sections of the country casting off parochialism and willing to tell the truth about bringing a lasting solution to it.

“It’s very unfair to heap all blame on the Tinubu administration because the high wave of insecurity ravaging the country began many years before its coming, and it behoves all of us to find out the root cause and support his administration in its bid to end it.”

He posited that having completed two terms between 2015 and 2023, it’s morally fair for the North to back the South by endorsing President Tinubu for a second tenure in 2027.
