Aliero Varsity To Confer Hon Degree To Kebbi Gov, Sultan, Others

The Abdullahi Fodio University of Science And Technology Aliero ( AFUSTA) is to confer honorary doctorate degrees on Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, His Majesty Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II and Governors of Sokoto, Ahmed Aliyu; Zamfara, Dauda Lawal and Imo, Hope Uzodinma.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Danshehu Bagudu Gwadangaji announced this on Wednesday at a press conference held at the Conference Hall of the University in Aliero.
Prof. Danshehu said the distinguished personalities will receive their honorary doctorate degrees during the university’s maiden combined convocation ceremony for the 2010/2011 and 2023/2024 academic sessions slated to hold on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
According to him, the management of the university decided to confer the personalities with the degrees due to their leadership, service and contributions to their states, national development and humanity.
He added that these illustrious leaders and revered monarchs have contributed to governance, peace-building, education and socio-economic development across the country.
Prof. Danshehu further revealed that a total of 7,221 graduands, drawn from 13 academic sessions, will be awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates during the convocation which he described as historic.
Other events to feature at the convocation include the formal investiture of the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, to preside over the landmark ceremony barely 16 months after assuming office, debate presentation, novelty football match between academic and non-academic staff, convocation lectures and the display of different cultural hetitage.
The VC noted that the occasion coincides with 19 years of sustained academic activities of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science And Technology, Aliero and represents the first convocation ceremony in the history of the university.
“A comprehensive arrangement has been made to ensure a successful, orderly and memorable convocation ceremony which will be attended by many scholars, politicians and other citizens of the country,” Prof. Danshehu added.
