Nigeria Ended Our Dream Of Lifting First Ever Trophy – Morocco Captain

According to report from BBC Sports on 26th July, 2025 Morocco Women National team captain Ghizlane Chebbak reiterated in his brief interview session after their WAFCON final game loss to the Super Falcons of Nigeria tonight that their dream of lifting this year’s African Women Football Cup of Nations trophy was surprisingly ended by Nigeria.
Chebbak noted that she was already rejoicing in her mind after securing a crucial goal in the game and watching her side find back of the net again within few minutes during the first half, thinking they will end up winning the trophy at final whistle, but was surprised with how the match ended in a loss.
She said ” I had hoped we will come out victorious after scoring two incredible goals, but couldn’t believe what happened at last.”
As Nigeria’s jubilant players had fun on the pitch where they recovered from a 2-0 deficit, I felt it’s time to bring the curtain down on our coverage of an absorbing, extravagantly dramatic final.”
However the Super Falcons are already 10 times winners now in the competition but were pushed all the way and greatly attacked by Morocco, who were less than 20 minutes of regular time away from winning the trophy for the first time.
Morocco captain Ghizlane Chebbak helped capture the hearts of her numerous fans during their run to the final, and despite losing 2-3, in tonight’s match, she finished incredibly as someone who found back of the net in a final match that could have given them the trophy. She is both in the top scorer’s list (three goals) and was also voted player of the tournament even before their loss.
