Muslims Community In Cross River Distances Self From Alleged Illegalities

Muslims community in Cross River state has distanced itself from any criminality and allegations of insecurity, kidnapping and all forms of social vices on all ramifications.

The entire muslim leaders under the aegis of Leagues of Muslim Leaders in Cross River made the clarification in an interview with journalists in Calabar.

“We observed that in some quarters, some miscreants are disguising themselves as Fulani herdsmen wreaking havoc, attempting kidnapping in the name of Fulanis or Muslims resident in Cross River state,” the League said during a Friday special prayer for peace and progress in the state.

The League added that “we are sincerely informing Cross Riverians that we Muslims in Cross River state, for almost a decade, have been living in peaceful coexistence with the indigenes, with unbiased relations. Therefore we’re bringing it to the notice that in all sort of criminalities our hands are clean and free from all allegations label to Muslims,” the League stated.

Alhaji Adamu Madu Baba, a resident of Cross River, said “we have good rapport with the state government and the traditional institutions of the state for many years and we Muslims can’t wait any longer with arms ‘akimbo’ for people to, overnight, come and tarnish our image. We exonerate ourselves from this devilish act,” Alhaji Madu Baba said.

Recently, some miscreants were arrested who disguised themselves as Fulani herdsmen acting nefariously in the state.

The body also praised the Governor Bassey Edet Otu-led administration For his fairness.
