Kebbi REC Urges Eligible Voters To Obtain PVC Via Physical Registration

As the 2027 elections approaches, Kebbi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abubakar Sarkin Pawa Dambo has urged eligible voters in the state to immediately visit registration centres nearest to them, and register physically to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) which can only allow voters to vote in 2027.

He made the request on Tuesday at the Stakeholders Meeting on the resumption of Phase II of the Continuous Voter Registrations (CVR) held at INEC headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

Sarkin Pawa Dambo further revealed that the essence of the Stakeholders Meeting was as a result of poor CVR registration by the Commission in the 1st Phase CVR registration exercise.

He said “from the last phase of the exercise, about 80 per cent voters have registered via e- registration instead of physical, which recorded a lot of complaints of omissions of names, photos among others.

“So, that is why we summoned this Stakeholders Meeting which consists of community leaders, political party leaders, NOA, media organisations and the security agencies to sensitise the general public especially, voters on the importance of physical registration than, e-registration,” he added.

The INEC boss in the state, however, called on the stakeholders to extend the importance of physical registration to all eligible voters in the state so that the 2nd Phase exercise will mark a successful registration.

He noted that the Commission will soon release a timetable for the commencement of the 2nd Phase exercise to the general public which is expected to commence between February 2 and April 10, 2026 in the registration area centres, and wards in each of the 21 local government areas of Kebbi State.
