Journalists Undertake Tour Of Yobe Governor’s Dev Projects

In its effort to showcase the ongoing development initiatives within Yobe State, a group of journalists, have embarked on a media tour of Governor Buni’s various projects, beginning with those located in the arid regions of the state, particularly Yunusari Local Government.

The tour is coming in the heels of previous setbacks characterized by insurgent activities that disrupted the state’s economic and community well-being.

To revitalise the local economy and empower community members, Governor Buni’s administration has initiated the construction of ultra-modern and modern markets throughout the state.

During the visit to the Yunusari Modern Market, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, highlighted the governor’s commitment to executing people-oriented projects in both rural and urban areas across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Bego also remarked that the Commissioner, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Buba had noted that numerous markets have been developed in key locations, including Damaturu, Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru, Ngalda, Buni Yadi, and Geidam respectively.

Providing detailed insights into the Yunusari Modern Market, the Commissioner shared that it comprises 98 stores and shops, an administrative block, a fire service unit, a security post, as well as 156 stalls and a warehouse. This new development is poised to elevate economic activities within the partular community, he added.

While thanking the Yobe State Governor on behalf of Yunusari community, a local leader Babagoni Aisami emphasised that the governor’s project will substantially enhance their economic prospects and attract potential investors, thereby fostering further growth and development in the whole region.

He also assured the governor that they will utilize it in a way that it will boost their economy for a long period of time.

The commissioner also highlighted ongoing rural infrastructure projects, citing the 25km Gashu’a–Masaba road as an example.

According to him, for many years, these farming communities have been landlocked and inaccessible, but His Excellency decided it was essential to open up thie area.

The project engineer, Engr. Kabir Mohammad Kashim noted that the road connects approximately 14 agrarian communities in the area. The Governor’s vision extends beyond the state capital alone.
