Hajj 2026: Kebbi Gov Intervenes With N10bn For More Seats

Following the closing date of payment of Hajj fares on December 5, by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has assisted the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) with N10 billion to secure more Hajj seats for intending pilgrims in the state.

Kebbi State PWA Chairman, Alhaji Faruku Musa Enabo, revealed the development to journalists on Saturday at a news conference in his office.

He said that before the intervention of the governor with funds, only few number of intending pilgrims met up with the deadline.

“With this N10 billion from His Excellency, we have secured 1300 additional seats from NAHCON so that any interested intending pilgrim from the state can come to the agency to buy or pay for seat,” Enabo said.

“By this development, we are requesting all interested intending pilgrims to fulfil the registration requirements from December 6 to December 16,” he added.

According to him, this year’s Hajj airlift from Kebbi to Saudi Arabia will commence on May 3, 2026, warning that no intending pilgrim from the state will be allowed to carry illegal drugs or illicit items to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He commended Governor Nasir Idris for assisting the agency with the amount, without which intervention, the 2026 Hajj exercise in the state will not hold.

He therefore appealed to intending pilgrims to, as a matter of urgency, should immediately complete their registration fees in time before December 16.
