Gov. Idris, Sultan, Ooni Receive AFUSTA Honorary Doctorate Degrees

The Abdullahi Fodio University Aliero (AFUSTA) in Kebbi State has awarded honorary doctorate degrees to Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, His Eminence the Sultan, Sa’ad Abubakar III, His Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi the Ojaja II, Chairman Progressives Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma and Governors of Sokoto, Zamfara and Borno States, Ahmed Aliyu, Dauda Lawal Dare and Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum respectively.

According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Danshehu Bagudu Gwadangaji during his speech at the Convocation Square of the University in Aleiro Main Campus on Saturday, the University decided to confer the personalities with the degrees due to their leadership, service and service delivery across the state and the country.

He added that the illustrious leaders and revered monarchs have contributed immensely to governance, peace-building, education and socio-economic development across the country.

Similarly, the V-C further disclosed that 7,221 Students who graduated in 2010/2011 and 2013/2014, drawn from 13 academic sessions, will be awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates.

Prof. Danshehu noted that the convocation coincided with 19 years of sustained academic activities of Abdullahi Fodio University Aliero which represents the 1st convocation ceremony in the history of the University.

He thanked Governor Nasir Idris for funding the convocation and assured the University’s support towards the success of education in the state.

Governor Nasir Idris commended the University for finding him and other personalities worthy to award them with honorary doctorate degrees.

Governor Idris, however, disclosed that his administration will continue to prioritize educational sector due to its impact on people’s livelihood.
