Gov Eno Sacks 2 Aides Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Akwa Ibom State Government on Monday, announced the relieving of two aides of their duties with immediate effect. They are Joseph Jacob Ikpak, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Support Services and Felix Ekuri, Special Assistant to the Governor on Neighbourhood Watch.

Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Prince Enobong Uwah, in a statement, said the action was part of Governor Umo Eno’s ongoing efforts to realign the machinery of government with its Renewed Hope and Arise Agenda mantra.

Although the statement did not provide further details on the circumstances leading to their removal, anonymous sources from Government House linked it to anti-party activities.

According to the sources, the affected aides were alleged to have been secretly playing loyalty to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when government that employed them is All Progressives Congress (APC).

This came few hours after the national convention of PDP in Ibadan, Oyo State where Akwa Ibom delegates were led there by the immediate past Governor Udom Emmanuel as the leader of the party in the state, to whom the two relieved aides were alleged to be playing loyalty.

Political analysts note that the shake-up comes at a time when the administration is reportedly increasing internal checks to consolidate loyalty and strengthen its policy direction.

In another development, the state government has appointed Mrs Elsie Peters as Its new Head of Service.
