BREAKING: Kidnapped Kebbi Schoolgirls Rescued

The 24 Schoolgirls abducted recently from GGCSS Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government area of Kebbi State on Sunday, 17th November, 2025 have been rescued unhurt by the heavy combined team of soldiers, police, NSCDC, vigilantes operatives and local hunters, after nine days in captivity.

Addressing a news conference at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday evening over the gladdening news, Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, disclosed that the abducted students were successfully rescued in Mokwa forest, Niger State .

Governor Idris added that they were rescued by the rescue team after a heavy gun battle between them and the abductors without any ransom.

According to the governor, the released students will be taken to hospital for medical treatment before reuniting them with their parents.

He commended the brave rescue team for their justified task given to them by both the Federal and Kebbi State governments.

He said that he lost words of commendation to those who expressed their concerns most especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President, Senator Kashim Shattima, Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, PGF led by Hon. Hope Uzodinma, National Assembly members led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, all and sundry.

Governor Idris announced that the rescued schoolgirls will be in Birnin Kebbi this Wednesday for their official hand over to their parents/guardians.
