Bayelsa Deputy Governor Slumps, Dies in Office

The Bayelsa State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who was reportedly dead yesterday Thursday after collapsing in his office in Yenagoa.
The incident happened around 1:30pm, prompting an immediate emergency response.
The Deputy Governor was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where medical personnel tried to resuscitate him.
Family sources confirmed to journalists in Yenagoa that the he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.
Earlier, it was disclosed that Ewhrudjakpo appeared in critical condition when he was hurried into the hospital’s emergency unit. A close associate said the Deputy Governor had been under intense pressure due to his workload.
Although the exact cause of his death may be linked to a cardiac-related complication, efforts to reach his media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
