ABU VC bags Honorary Fellowship of International College of Dentists

…As all is set to commission Nigerian Academy of Dental Implantology at ABUTH

The International College of Dentists (ICD) will on Monday, 22nd September, 2025 confer its prestigious award of Honorary Fellowship on the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed.

Zaria (NAM), said in a statement that the honour is in recognition of Ahmadu Bello University’s outstanding support for the growth of dentistry at ABU Faculty of Dentistry

This, the statement added, was contained in a letter conveying the award to Prof. Ahmed by the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Ibadan, Prof. B. Kolude.

The conferment of the ICD fellowship is in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of commencement of dental programme at the University of Ibadan. It is billed for 10:00am at Theophilus Ogunlesi Multi-Purpose Hall, University College (UCH), Ibadan.

Meanwhile, all is set for the commissioning of the Nigerian Academy of Dental Implantology (NADI) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria.

The President, International College of Dentists (ICD), Dr. Ian Doyle, will commission the medical facility on Wednesday, 24th September, 2025.

The Academy, according to the Provost, College of Medical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. M.S. Shehu, would be a centre for training, research, and dental implantology services.

Prof. Shehu also said there would be strong collaboration with postgraduate medical colleges and other dental schools at the Academy in due course.

The Academy, he further said, was sponsored by the International Postgraduate Medical College (IPMC), Jamaica.

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, will lead the ICD President, Ian Doyle, to the facility for commissioning.
