Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE), in partnership with Women’s Earth Alliance (WAE) has organized a 4-days training for 30 Women in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State on intergenerational farming.
The training which began an Tuesday, 8th to Friday 11th September, 2026 was held at Lere Local Government area.
Speaking on the aim of the training, the WISE Founder/Nigeria Programme Lead of WEA, Olanike Olugboji Daramola said, the WEA-WISE is an intervention to build and equip women, young females and girls to regenerative agricultural accelerator.
According to her, training will promote organic farming practices among women farmers; also it will enhance food system and security.
Daramola added that it will boost carbon sequestration preservation and it will also facilitate access to capital, market and smart technologies.
She said, with this training women can understand the benefit of applying organic fertilizer on their farms which will save them from spending much on chemicals that degrade soil.
The Director also encouraged the participants to embrace the locally available materials around them for their day to day activities which save most cost on thekr side.
Olugbojl Daramola added that leading the drive in sustainable cooking and lighting solutions as well as transforming communities through eco-friendly practices and access to renewable energy.
She said it’s uite in order putting women as vanguard of innovative waste recycling/upscaling and fostering a cleaner, greener future to our communities.
The Director pointed out that, approach to the issues of environmental sustainability is an integrated one as WISE engages in environmental projects and programmes in the hygiene, municipal waste management and tourism.
Also speaking an Horticulturist, Mrs. Victoria John Idoko said she ventured into seedling farming to support her family and herself which she has seen the benefit till today.
Idoko added that she was in Lere Local Government to train women on how to start seedling farming from the nursery stage to the growing position.
According to her, if women embrace this seedling farming, particularly the economic trees, they stand the chance to benefit on so many ways that is on health, environmental protection among other benefits.
The Horticulturist advised women not to allow this simple and benefiting activities to slip away from them.
Some participants have expressed their delight over the training they received in the last four days by Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE) on .intergenerational farming.
Hafsat Adamu of Wassa Fiti commended WISE for the educative and enlightenment they brought to them at this trying period and promised to take her experience down to her community to benefit same.
While sharing her experience, Madam Deborah Clement from Maigamo said, WISE has really awoken them up on “how organic application on their farms are very important to our soil.”
Mrs. Salomi Gedeon of Abadawa appealed to WISE to consider Lere Local Govt as its hub by having an office for more members to join and benefit from the knowledge WISE is imparting to the grassroots.
