Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq Has Not Fallen Out Of Favour With Tinubu — Adedoyin

According to a report by The Nation on Friday 11 September 2026, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq has dismissed suggestions of a political disagreement between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that the president continues to have confidence in his leadership.

Adedoyin described the report as politically motivated and argued that its presentation relied heavily on assumptions and subtle suggestions rather than verifiable evidence. He maintained that there was nothing to establish claims that Tinubu and AbdulRazaq had fallen out.

According to him, the publication appeared designed to create the impression of tension between the two political figures despite the absence of concrete evidence indicating a breakdown in their relationship.

Adedoyin also rejected suggestions that AbdulRazaq’s reported position as a State Director in Tinubu’s newly established Presidential Campaign Council represented a decline in the governor’s political relevance or standing.

Instead, he urged the governor to concentrate on strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure in Kwara State and ensuring that the party performs strongly during the 2027 elections.

He argued that the governor’s political responsibilities should include consolidating the party’s structure across the state and coordinating efforts aimed at securing victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Adedoyin also addressed allegations concerning the appointment of members of AbdulRazaq’s family to positions within the Presidential Campaign Council. He recalled the 2023 Tinubu-Shettima campaign and noted that two members of the governor’s family were reportedly included among campaign council members.

According to the account, AbdulRazaq had expressed dissatisfaction over the distribution of positions, particularly in relation to his Ilorin West Local Government, and had insisted that his nominations receive due recognition.

Adedoyin nevertheless defended the governor against accusations that he should be blamed for every disagreement within the APC or for the outcome of party primaries in Kwara.

He argued that AbdulRazaq’s relatively reserved personality and reluctance to publicly highlight his achievements had made him susceptible to political attacks and speculation. Adedoyin urged members of the public to assess the governor’s political position using verifiable facts rather than reports suggesting an unresolved disagreement with Tinubu.

He also pointed to broader political considerations in Kwara, including continued efforts by the Igbomina people to increase their representation in the National Assembly from Kwara South, arguing that such developments should be considered when evaluating political progress in the state.
