Iran Defies Trump’s Pressure As Tehran Cleric Issues Defiant Warning: “Iran Will Never Surrender”

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Friday September 04, 2026, Iran will not yield to pressure from the United States, Tehran’s Friday prayer leader Ahmad Khatami said on Friday, as the confrontation between Washington and Tehran continues to involve both military and economic pressure.

Addressing worshippers during Friday prayers in Tehran, Khatami rejected any suggestion that Iran could be forced into submission, saying the country would maintain its position despite mounting pressure from Washington.

“Iran will never surrender,” Khatami said during his speech.

He described the confrontation as extending beyond military action, arguing that Iran was facing a combination of pressure intended to weaken the country on several fronts.

“This is a combined war made up of military and economic pressure,” Khatami said.

The cleric’s remarks presented Iran’s response as one of resistance, with Khatami making clear that neither military pressure nor economic measures would persuade Tehran to capitulate.

Relations between Iran and the United States remain highly strained, with the confrontation involving security tensions alongside economic pressure.

Khatami’s comments reflect the position repeatedly expressed by Iranian officials that Washington’s efforts will not force Tehran to abandon its stance.

Speaking from Tehran’s Friday prayer platform, Khatami also emphasized the significance of what he described as a broader campaign against Iran.

His characterization of the confrontation as a combined military and economic effort highlighted the importance Iranian leaders place on resisting pressure across both areas.

The statement comes as tensions between the two countries continue, with Washington maintaining pressure on Tehran and Iranian officials repeatedly vowing to resist.

Khatami’s declaration that Iran “will never surrender” reinforces Tehran’s public position that it intends to withstand US pressure rather than seek capitulation.
