US: Naval Blockade Of Iran Is Considered An Act Of Aggression, And Warnings Have Been Issued–Baghaei

According to a report by The Times Of Israel on Monday August 24, 2026, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned Washington’s economic measures against Tehran, describing them as “a clear example of economic terrorism to punish a nation that insists on defending its sovereignty and independence”.

Baghaei criticized the United States over its approach toward Iran, arguing that Washington’s policies amount to pressure aimed at forcing Tehran to abandon its position on national sovereignty and independence.

He also warned countries and other parties against cooperating with what Tehran considers unlawful US actions, particularly measures linked to a naval blockade of Iran.

“The naval blockade of Iran is considered an act of aggression, and warnings have been issued that any cooperation with the illegal behaviour of the US will have grave consequences,” he reiterated.

Baghaei’s remarks reflect Iran’s continued opposition to US pressure and its rejection of measures that Tehran believes violate its sovereignty. Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that attempts to restrict the country’s economic or maritime activities could provoke a response.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further stressed that Tehran would not accept what it considers hostile actions without responding.

“Iran will never remain idle in the face of such actions.”

His comments came amid heightened tensions surrounding US policies toward Iran and concerns over the possible consequences of restrictions affecting Iranian trade and maritime activities.

Baghaei maintained that Iran has the right to protect its sovereignty and national interests while warning foreign governments against supporting measures Tehran considers unlawful.
