Iran Has Learned That Only Language Washington Regime Will Respond To Is Language Of Power – Sadeqi

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Saturday August 15, 2026, according to University of Tehran Associate Professor Setareh Sadeqi, tensions between Iran and the US have remained high despite the fact that both sides have altered their strategies following six months of conflict.
According to Sadeqi, Iran has realised that in order to deal with Washington, it is vital to show strength, not weakness, when seeking an accord.
She emphasised that safeguarding civilians from ongoing US military activity and preserving Tehran’s sovereignty are the capital’s pressing priority.
“Iran has learned that the only language that the Washington regime will respond to is a language of power and showing that they are not desperate for a deal.
Their number one priority is protecting their sovereignty and the lives of their citizens against US bombardment. US has now pivoted towards a policy of economic coercion,” Sadeqi said.
She made the case that the war is seen differently by Iran and the United States, with the former seeing it as a fight for existence and the latter as an opportunity to pull out of the battle.
This is a battle of existential threats for Iran, which the US has designated as the object of its aggressive and terroristic policies. This is an American war of choice.
They are free to leave the conflict if they so desire. Now all Iran has to do is defend itself and counter the onslaught. Furthermore, Sadeqi noted that both nations are aware of how expensive it is for them.
Additionally, Sadeqi stated that the Trump administration will likely maintain its current level of pressure and is not expected to change its strategy anytime soon.
The United States is following the trajectory of US foreign policy, especially under Trump, which is to choose military aggression whenever possible and capable of doing so.
She went on to say that Iran will most likely not give up its claim to the Strait of Hormuz.
