OsunDecides2026: Adeleke Confident Of Victory, Urges Voters To Protect Their Ballots

According to a report by PUNCH on Saturday, August 15, 2026, Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate Ademola Adeleke is confident he would win the 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke spoke shortly after voting Saturday at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North LGA.

As the election began, the governor and many supporters arrived at the polling unit at 8:32 a.m.

Adeleke was accredited by the Presiding Officer at 8:35 a.m. before voting, according to NAN.

After voting, the governor claimed he was certain of winning and urged state people to vote.

Adeleke said the election was a chance for Osun residents to choose a four-year leader.

He urged eligible citizens to vote in huge numbers and fulfilll their civic duties.

The governor also advised voters to secure their votes during voting, counting, and results collation.

He advised voters to stay at their voting stations and monitor processes per INEC instructions.

Adeleke believes that keeping voters watchful and following the process will defend the election’s integrity and ensure that the outcome reflects their intentions.

He also urged his followers and other voters to stay calm and law-abiding during the election.

However, the governor highlighted concerns about security officers allegedly disrupting voting in regions of the state.

Adeleke claimed he had knowledge about an Ede police officer trying to disrupt elections. He urged the Inspector-General of Police to immediately remove the officer from the state.

Adeleke claimed that police personnel in Modakeke and other areas of the state were scaring away supporters to disenfranchise them.

The governor did not identify the officer or describe the alleged occurrences involving his supporters.

Adeleke also warned voters against phoney ballot papers being inserted at some polling stations to deceive voters or subvert the democratic process.

He advised locals to follow electoral rules and report suspicious activities to authorities.

The governor remained optimistic that the election will be peaceful and credible despite his worries.

Adeleke believed the final result will represent Osun voters’ wishes.

APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam are challenging Adeleke in the race, which is being closely followed across the state.

Attention remains on voter turnout, security agency conduct, electoral official performance, and counting and collation transparency as voting proceeds.
