Why I’m Participating In #OsunDecides2026 Despite My Age — 85-Year-Old Voter

An 85-year-old voter, Pa Odejide Mosunmoye, has expressed hope that the outcome of the Osun governorship election will strengthen good governance and deliver benefits to people across all segments of society.

Mosunmoye spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after voting at Unit 3, Ward 9, AUD School Atile in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, on Saturday.

“I came out in my old age to vote today for the candidate of my choice because I want to see better governance in the state.

“I have been voting since the days of Awolowo, and I believe government can not be perfect but we have to do our best to choose better leaders.

“What will happen is in the hands of God, but we just have to play our own part,” he said.

NAN observed that elderly voters at the polling unit were given priority during the voting process.

The agency also reported that voting began at about 8:40 a.m. after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presiding officer allowed party agents to inspect the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and ballot papers before accreditation and voting commenced.
