Bauchi Gov Swears-in 4 New Commissioners, Redeploys 3

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, has sworn-in four new commissioners, with a challenge to uphold integrity, accountability and transparency in the discharge of their official duties.

The newly appointed commissioners include Hon. Madaki Ahmad Gololo, Bashir Yau, Bashir Adamu Rishi, and Baraya Ibrahim who took their oaths of office and allegiance administered by the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Bauchi.

Shortly after being sworn-in, Governor Bala Mohammed informed that the appointments followed the resignation of some political appointees who expressed interest in contesting elective positions in the 2027 general elections, in compliance with relevant legal provisions. Explaining that the new commissioners were selected from the affected Local Government areas to maintain fair representation in the State Executive Council.

He said the appointments were not based on representation alone, but also on the track records, competence, experience and commitment of the appointees to the development of Bauchi State.

The Governor urged them to familiarise themselves with government policies and work closely with their permanent secretaries and other civil servants to achieve the objectives of their respective ministries.

He warned that their conduct and actions would be closely monitored by the government and members of the public, urging them to uphold probity, accountability and due process in managing public resources.

Governor Mohammed cautioned them against any action capable of bringing the government or the state into disrepute.

The governor highlighted the achievements of his administration since 2019, including investments in road construction, education, healthcare, water supply, security, youth empowerment and skills development.

He said the efforts have contributed to positioning Bauchi among the leading states in development and one of the safest states in Nigeria.

Governor Bala Mohammed, assigned Madaki Ahmad Gololo to the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives; Bashir Yau to Youth and Sports Development, Bashir Adamu Rishi to Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management while Baraya Ibrahim goes to Commerce, Industry and Investment.

He also announced the redeployment of Adamu Babayo Gabarin to Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to Rural Development and Special Duties as well as Muhammad Hamisu Shira to Finance and Economic Development. Hassan El-yakub (SAN) and Usman Usman will continue supervising the Ministries of Local Government and Water Resources respectively.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed commissioners, Baraya Ibrahim appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for the confidence reposed in them, pledging their commitment to supporting the administration’s development agenda.

He assured that the commissioners would work collectively to promote transparency, accountability and effective implementation of government programmes, while seeking the cooperation and support of the people of Bauchi State.

Governor Bala Mohammed concluded the ceremony with prayers for Allah’s guidance and protection for the new commissioners, Bauchi State, and Nigeria, while reaffirming his administration’s determination to continue improving the lives of citizens until the end of its tenure.
