Insecurity: Kebbi Opposition Cautioned Against Blackmail

Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government area of Kebbi State, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, has called on disgruntled politicians to bring to an end the continued slander on government’s efforts in the fight against banditry in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Birnin Kebbi, he described the recent event which claimed the lives of two civilians, two forest guards personnel with one military personnel missing during a gun battle between security agents and bandits as unfortunate.

While praising the gallantry of the officers for eliminating the criminals in the fight, Bena advised the opposition to desist from utterances that could breach the existing peace and socioeconomic development in Kebbi State.

He acknowledged the fact that unpatriotic politicians who lacked sense of patriotism with nothing to show to the electorate as dividends of democracy but resorted to blackmail, noting that no amount of ranting would derail the developmental strides of Governor Idris.

The chairman stated that the act of securing society remained everyone’s business, expressing happiness over farmers’ compliance for not growing rising crops like corn, millet and sorghum several metres near security posts in order not to provide hideouts to invading bandits.

Bena explained that the security challenges facing thae state was as a result of the existing camps of bandits in neighbouring states, adding that because of the pragmatic security architecture of Governor Idris the bandits would only strike and run back to their positions.

The chairman therefore called on the people of the area to continue to support Governor Nasir Idris-led administration in its resilient efforts towards ensuring everlasting peace, prosperity and cordial coexistence in the state.

Bena urged them to remain loyal to the State Government and return President Tinubu and Governor Idris into office come 2027.
