How Do You Survive With 70,000 Per Month, You Pay Policeman 150k No Pension – Fayose
Isaac Fayose, brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has expressed strong concerns about the low salaries paid to Nigerian workers, saying the system sets them up to fail. He made these remarks during an interview on the Glitch Africa Podcast.
Fayose questioned how an average Nigerian can survive on a monthly salary of ₦70,000, noting that such income is far below what is needed for basic living. He compared it to his own daily expenses, which he said can reach ₦500,000, highlighting the wide gap between the elite and ordinary citizens.
He also spoke about the challenges faced by police officers, who earn around ₦150,000 monthly and often lack pension benefits. Fayose argued that when officers are poorly paid and unsupported, especially in cases of death or injury, it becomes difficult to expect them to avoid corrupt practices like bribery.
According to him, the government’s failure to provide fair wages and proper welfare creates a system where workers are forced to make unethical choices just to survive. He believes that the way people are treated by the system influences how they behave in return.

He siad, “How do you survive with 70,000 per month? I spend maybe 500k a day. So how can someone live with 70,000 per month? You pay me 70,000, you don’t want me to steal? You pay policeman 150k no pension if they kill you there, you are gone and you don’t want him to collect bribe? We are designed to fail because okay… I treat you the way I want you to treat me.”
