NUJ Humbles NBA 3-1 In Novelty Football Encounter At Uyo Township Stadium

In what was described as an impressive novelty football match played at the Uyo Township Stadium within the week, the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) football team walloped their Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) opponents to a 3-1 win.

The friendly was part of the activities marking NBA 2026 Week in the state. Both teams displayed skill, teamwork and sportsmanship that thrilled the enthusiastic football fans from exciting moments.

The pen professionals took control of the game with a commanding performance, converting their chances clinically to secure a win against their host team.

In a post-match comment, the Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Nsibiet John commended the Union team for their discipline, resilience and team spirit, which he said contributed significantly to the victory.

He praised the players for representing the union with dignity and excellence, noting that the result reflected the determination and unity that characterize members of the journalism profession.

Comrade John also applauded the Nigerian Bar Association for providing worthy opposition and emphasized that the match was primarily aimed at strengthening professional relationships and promoting healthy recreation among practitioners of different professions.

Despite spirited efforts by the NBA team to stage a comeback, the NUJ side maintained its dominance throughout the match, thrilling spectators with entertaining football and well-coordinated attacking play.

The novelty match formed part of the social and recreational activities lined up for the 2026 NBA Week, aimed at fostering camaraderie, friendship and stronger inter-professional relationships among stakeholders in the state.
