NEMA Distributes Food Basket Of King Salman Foundation To Vulnerable Groups In Kebbi

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed 24,302 food baskets to different vulnerable groups across Kebbi State on Thursday.

The vulnerable include the less-privileged, widows, petty traders, households, blind people, cripples and unemployed as well as the victims of flood disaster in Shanga and other parts of the state.

Speaking during the presentation of the commodities held at the government stores along Kalgo road on the outskirts of Birnin Kebbi, the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar represented by the Director of Special Duties, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman Kasim revealed that KSreleif has donated 24,302 food baskets for distribution to vulnerable and households in Kebbi, Benue, Anambra, Yobe and, Taraba States.

She further disclosed that Kebbi State received 4,399 food baskets under the programme for households that had already been profiled.

She noted that the distribution exercise would be conducted transparently and in accordance with established accountability standards through collaboration between NEMA, Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and trained volunteers.

The DG, however, advised residents and shop owners to take measures against flooding as rainy season already intensified.

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, while flagging off the distribution, commended King Salman Foundation of Saudi Arabia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the collaborative gesture.

He urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the food items for the benefit of their households to cushion the effect of poverty and hardship as well as disaster recovery.
