Kebbi: DIG Unveils Plans To Improve Service For Personnel

The Deputy-Inspector-General of Police incharge of North West Zone comprising Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa States, Suleiman Muhammed Abdul has unveiled plans to improve police service in Kebbi and other states in the zone.

Speaking while addressing police officers at the Mobile Policemen Barracks along Sani Abacha bye-pass in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, DIG Abdul listed the plans which include vigorous border patrol by the combined team of security personnel, training and re-training of personnel, night patrol, discipline, community policing, intelligence gathering and surveillance in all the trouble areas across the state.

He said: “We have been hearing about the concurrent attacks by suspected bandits and terrorists in our borders and check points on highways, to the extent of killing our personnel on their duty posts that’s why the IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed us to visit our zone to ensure peace reign.”

He noted that the plans were initiated by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu in order to reflect the commitment of the force headquarters’s management towards reviewing and strengthening the security architecture in improving service delivery, welfare and boosting the morale of the personnel in Kebbi State and other states in the zone.

According to him, the Zonal Office acknowledged the efforts of the Kebbi Police Command in terms of checking the activities of criminals, especially Lakurawa bandits in the state.

He called on personnel to redouble their actions and dedication towards keeping Kebbi a banditry-free state.

He also commended the efforts of Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his support and assistance with mobility and funds to security agencies in tackling insecurity across the state.

The DIG also inspected the first batch of 436 police constables who have successfully completed their training on how to carryout firearms in the fight against criminals in the state.

He also commissioned newly-armoured vehicles received from the Force Headquarters for enhanced operational services of personnel in the state.
