If Tinubu Does Not Resign In Six Months, We Will Apply All The Legislative Processes – Agbedi

Fred Agbedi, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, has strongly criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that it has fallen short of the expectations of many Nigerians since it assumed office.

His remarks have further intensified ongoing national discussions about governance, economic hardship, and insecurity in the country.

Agbedi made these comments during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, where he expressed concern over what he described as the current direction of national leadership and the effectiveness of government policies in addressing pressing challenges.

During the interview, the federal lawmaker voiced dissatisfaction with what he called the administration’s inability to provide adequate solutions to key issues affecting citizens. He pointed to worsening economic conditions, including rising inflation and the increasing cost of living, as well as persistent security problems in several parts of the country. According to him, these challenges have left many Nigerians frustrated and uncertain about the future.

He added that concerns about the state of the nation are becoming more widespread among both citizens and political actors, with growing calls for urgent and decisive action to reverse the current situation. Agbedi argued that leadership must be evaluated based on measurable results, particularly in areas that directly impact the welfare of the population.

The lawmaker further disclosed that a six-month ultimatum had been issued to President Tinubu, explaining that the decision was meant to reflect the seriousness of the concerns being raised. He maintained that elected officials are accountable to the people and must demonstrate clear progress in addressing the country’s economic, security, and governance challenges.

According to him, the ultimatum reflects the frustration of those who believe the administration has not delivered sufficiently on its promises of reform and national improvement. He stressed that democratic accountability requires constant scrutiny of those in power, and that appropriate constitutional and legislative measures should be considered when leaders fail to meet expectations.

Agbedi also noted during the interview that many Nigerians are experiencing significant hardship in their daily lives, with limited relief in sight despite initial hopes placed in the current administration. He said citizens expected rapid and meaningful improvements upon the government’s inauguration, but believe that progress has been slower than anticipated.

He further emphasized the role of the legislature and other democratic institutions in ensuring that governance remains responsive and accountable to the people. In his view, constitutional mechanisms exist to address situations where leadership is perceived to be underperforming.

In his remarks, Agbedi stated, “President Tinubu has failed, that is why we gave him 6 months ultimatum, if he does not resign in 6 months, we will apply all the legislative processes.”

His comments have since sparked widespread debate across political and public spaces. While some critics of the administration agree with his assessment and call for stronger action to address economic and security concerns, others argue that the government should be given more time to fully implement its policies and demonstrate results.
