Bauchi Governor Sympathizes with Victims’ Families Over Farmers-Herders Clash

Following recent farmers, herders crisis in Lanzai Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, has paid a sympathy visit to the troubled communities over the conflict that caused loss of lives and destruction of property.

The Governor’s visit to the area attracted presence of traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies, farmers, herders and other stakeholders for a dialogue aimed at finding lasting solutions to the unfortunate crisis.

Addressing the gathering, the Village Head of Dosho, Alhaji Musa Kalla, the District Head of Lanzai, Alhaji Idris Bala and the Emir of Darazo, Alhaji Ibrahim Babayo Bababa, expressed concern over the tragic incidents and appealed for urgent government intervention to prevent further happening of the tragedy.

The traditional leaders emphasized the need for justice, reconciliation and enhanced security measures to safeguard lives and property across the affected communities.

Speaking during the engagement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Aliyu Omolori, assured residents that security operatives had intensified surveillance and were working tirelessly to maintain law and order. He urged citizens to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and refrain from taking the law into their hands.

Governor Bala Mohammed, while sympathizing with the victims and families of those affected by the crisis, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting all residents regardless of ethnic or occupational background.

As part of immediate measures to address the situation, the Governor announced the establishment of a high-powered investigation committee tasked with uncovering the root causes of the conflict and recommending appropriate actions against anyone found culpable.

He also approved the deployment of additional security personnel and the establishment of a special security outpost in the area to strengthen surveillance, prevent future outbreaks of violence, and reassured residents of their safety.

Governor Bala Mohammed called on both farmers and herders to embrace dialogue, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity and respect for the rule of law.
