A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has assured party members of his readiness to contest Thursday’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Bala Wunti described the contest for the party’s ticket as one of the most critical stages in the democratic process, noting that it represents the collective hope, vision, and mandate of the party before the main election.
He therefore appealed to all card-carrying APC members, stakeholders, supporters, and loyal party faithful across the state to come out en masse and vote overwhelmingly for him as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections.
The aspirant, who spoke through the Chief Executive Officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), Arc. Mukhtar Ahmad Jarmajo, during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi, stressed that no individual could contest for the office of governor without first securing the ticket of his political party.
“We are gathered here today as people concerned about the state of affairs in Bauchi State and the future of coming generations, as well as representatives of various support groups, political associates, youth organisations, women groups, community stakeholders, and admirers of Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti,” Jarmajo said.
He described Dr. Bala Wunti as the most qualified, experienced, energetic, and people-oriented aspirant among those seeking the APC governorship ticket.
“It is about choosing competence over propaganda, proven capacity over empty rhetoric, service over selfish ambition, and results over promises,” he stated.
According to him, Dr. Bala Wunti deliberately avoided making reckless promises or engaging in political sensationalism aimed at attracting public attention.
“Leadership is best measured by tangible impact, service to humanity, commitment to development, and the ability to improve the lives of ordinary people even without occupying elective office,” he added.
Jarmajo further noted that Dr. Bala Wunti had distinguished himself as a compassionate, humble, competent, and generous individual who had consistently invested his personal resources, influence, time, and energy in improving the lives of thousands of people across Bauchi State and beyond.
He added that the APC requires a candidate capable of uniting diverse interests within the party, bridging internal differences, and strengthening cohesion at all levels.
According to him, Bala Wunti possesses the capacity to attract broad grassroots support, energise the youth population, and inspire confidence among women groups, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and community stakeholders.
Jarmajo also reminded party members and stakeholders that the strength of democracy lies not only in participation but also in peaceful, orderly, and responsible conduct.
He therefore called on supporters of Bala Wunti across the state to remain calm, disciplined, law-abiding, and orderly throughout the primary election process.
