An All Progressives Congress (APC) Aspirant of Kebbi Central Senatorial District, Kabir Sani Giant has kicked against the conditions applied by the Consensus Committee constituted by the state government.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday in his Aliero Quarters residence in Birnin Kebbi, Giant refused to append his signature in revolt, as regards the consensus agreement laid down by the committee.
He stated that “I prefer to challenge or face any candidate, be it new breed or old hand in the race to test our popularity in the primary elections which is the last option as directed by the national body of APC.
“When I was invited by the Consensus Committee to sign an agreement form under the pretext of withdrawing from the contest, I declined and told them to allow me consult my lawyer to enlighten me on the content of the form and consequences involved,” he added.
Giant further clarified that contrary to some rumours making the rounds in some quarters that he was inspired by the present Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu to join the race, he noted that neither the minister nor any other person has requested him or directed him to join the Kebbi Central Senatorial District race.
He confirmed that it was the people of the Kebbi Central that lured him to join the race as a new breed politician so as to savour developmental changes in the constituency.
He also made it clear that if leaders had intervened in the matter, he has no option than to go back to those people who requested him to join the race, to seek their permission to either back down or otherwise.
