Goje Assumes Office As Yobe Ag SSG, Promises Enhanced Policy Coordination

Dr. Mohammed Goje, FRSPH has formally assumed office as the acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Yobe State, following a handover ceremony at the SSG’s Conference Room, Governor’s Office, Damaturu.

Speaking shortly after receiving a handover note from the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Alhaji Modu, the new SSG stressed his commitment to continuity, stability and effective governance under the leadership of Gov Mai Mala Buni.

He expressed his profound appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as both an honour and a call to higher service.

Goje emphasized that the office of the SSG remains the “engine room” of governance, central to policy coordination and effective implementation of government decisions.

The Acting SSG further reaffirmed his commitment to instil discipline across ministries, departments and agencies, enhancing accountability and ensuring that policies translate into tangible outcomes for the people of Yobe State.

He noted that the administration has recorded significant achievements across key sectors, including security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and pledged to build on these gains through a renewed focus on efficiency and service delivery.

Goje also paid tributes to his predecessor, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, for his distinguished service and remarkable contributions to the advancement of governance in the state and assured that he would build on those achievements to further consolidate the gains recorded under the administration.

Permanent Secretary Administration and General Services, Alhaji Madu who handed over the affairs of the office, pledged the full cooperation of all management and staff to support the new SSG in delivering government priorities.

“The entire workforce remains committed to working collaboratively to ensure the success of the office in delivering on government priorities,” he assured.

The brief ceremony was also attended by the Special Adviser on Security to the governor, Permanent Secretaries, senior government officials, family, friends and associates of the new SSG respectively among others.
