The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, has received Mr. Jean-Paul Ngome Abiaga who is the Head of UNESCO Office, Abuja and UNESCO Representative to Nigeria, alongside his delegation, at the Commission’s headquarters in Kano.
During the visit, Prof. Ma’aji briefed the UNESCO delegation on the Commission’s mandate, highlighting its focus on youth engagement, girl-child education, access to quality education, and basic healthcare as key drivers of sustainable development in the North West region.
According to a statement from the MD/CEO’s office, Prof. Ma’aji also expressed the Commission’s willingness to collaborate with UNESCO. He formally presented a proposal outlining priority areas of cooperation between both institutions.
Responding, Mr. Jean-Paul Ngome Abiaga commended the Commission’s development-focused agenda while receiving the collaboration proposal warmly, with both parties expressing optimism about forging a robust and mutually beneficial partnership in the areas of education, youth empowerment, and community development.
