The Commander, Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, has commenced a two-day conference with the theme “Optimising ST Capabilities Towards Providing Effective Service Delivery to Nigerian Army Operations in All Missions”.
A statement by Captain Kennedy Anyway, for the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Benin City on Tuesday 24th March, 2026 said that the Conference is aimed at reviewing the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport in the ongoing military operations across the country.
According to him the conference, which began on 24th March, 2026 at the Muhammadu Buhari Auditorium, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), Benin City, Edo State, will also dovetail into a Pulling-Out Ceremony and Gala Night in honour of esteemed retired Generals of the Corps on Thursday, 26th March, 2026.
The CCST noted that the conference further serves as an important strategic platform for professional reflection, institutional learning and collective problem-solving, adding that it also provides an opportunity for commanders to exchange ideas, examine operational realities, evaluate emerging challenges and collectively chart the way forward for the Corps in a rapidly evolving security environment.
In his words: “The contemporary operational landscape in which the Nigerian Army operates is increasingly complex and multidimensional. Modern military operations are characterised by fluid threat dynamics, technological evolution, and heightened demands on operational sustainability. In such an environment, the role of logistics has become even more critical. History has consistently demonstrated that operational success is sustained not only by tactical brilliance and combat power but also by the reliability, responsiveness and resilience of the logistics system that supports the force.”
The CCST further stated that the Conference seeks to provide a strategic forum for frank and professional engagement among commanders and senior officers of the Corps. “Through this platform, we will collectively review our operational commitments, examine institutional challenges and explore innovative approaches aimed at strengthening sustainment initiatives and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our logistics support system,” he added.
He therefore encouraged all participants to approach the deliberations with intellectual depth, professional candour and a shared commitment to strengthening the operational effectiveness of the Corps in support of the Nigerian Army.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Major General Adebayo Olatunde Adegbite, stated that the event will enable the Commander, Corps of Supply and Transport, to interact with field commanders as well as other senior officers on how to actualise the Nigerian Army’s mission in line with his Command Philosophy, which is: “To advance the development of a highly proficient Supply and Transport Corps capable of efficiently supporting the Nigerian Army to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities in all missions.”
He added that the conference provides a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, discuss challenges and make meaningful contributions that will propel the Corps towards improved efficiency and excellent service delivery in line with the COAS Command Philosophy.
Highlights of the event include group photograph, commissioning of Soldiers’ Dining Hall, commissioning of remodeled NASST Driving Simulation Centre and the unveiling of Col. I. Taiwo Crescent.
