Gidan Waziri: A Land Crying For Help – Blind Father, Son

This is Baba Tanimu Atete, popularly known as (Iti), a bl!nd old man from Gidan Waziri, a remote community near Ariko in Awon Ward, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Baba has been blind for over 35 years, and he had two sons, their names are Nuhu Tanimu and Yusuf Tanimu, but sadly Nuhu is also blind just as Baba.

So, Yusuf became everything to Baba and his brother Nuhu — he is their provider, protector, and hope. Through tireless farming and daily struggle, Yusuf fed his blind father and cared for his blind brother, carrying the weight of three lives on his shoulders.

On the 12th of December, 2025, that hope was stolen from Baba and Nuhu as their bread-winner Yusuf was kidnapped alongside one Dogara John from Ungwan Toka. That day was the last time Baba ever heard the voice of the son who was his eyes and his strength.

According to some of the released victims, the next day, the kidnappers gathered the victims to tell them how their ransom will be paid. But Yusuf pleaded for mercy from them.

He explained to them that he was the only one caring for his blind father and blind brother. His pain did not soften their hearts. Instead, they dragged him out, shot him in the head, and killed him instantly.

And after that forced the other abductees to dig his grave, while a Reverend Father who was also kidnapped from Kagarko Local Government, was ordered to conduct his burial. Yusuf died in the bush — silently — leaving behind two blind souls with no one to care for them.

Dogara John and the Reverend Father remained in captivity until ransom was paid. They were released on the 18th and 19th of January, 2026. Yusuf never returned.

This story made no headlines. No media outrage. Yet this is the daily reality of Kuturmi land — unreported deaths, forgotten tears, and suffer!ng buried in silence. It’s sad that when one tries to raise his voice as a patriotic citizen to speak the truth, Data Boys are quick to attack and label one enemies of government, just for political reasons.

Our leaders, who are meant to represent and protect us, now only represent themselves and protect only their ambitions. Their major concern is not the blood on the land but the elections of 2027.

Today, Baba Tanimu Atete is broken —blind, grieving, abandoned. Life has become so heavy that he openly speaks of giving up.

I call on the Executive Chairman of Kachia Local Government and the Kaduna State Government to urgently intervene in Baba’s situation. I also call on His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, and our security agencies to hear the cries of our people.

Our land is bleeding
Our people are in tears
And silence is killing us
