Committee on Minor Works Renovation Commences First Supervisory Visit

The Committee on the Supervision of Minor Works Renovation at Yobe State University has conducted its first official supervisory visit of ongoing projects across the campus.

A statement by Uwani Zainab Mahmud, who is the Director of Information and Protocol at the Yobe State University said that the committee, chaired by Professor Mohammad Bello Kawuwa, undertook the visit in collaboration with the University Management to assess the progress, quality and compliance of the projects, is aimed at improving a conducive and sustainable learning environment.

Projects inspected during the visit include the renovation of the Council Chamber; extension of the low-tension (LT) power line to the Faculty of Agriculture; renovation of the Bursary Department and the offices of the Director of Works; construction of a security outpost; renovation of the Administrative Block Mosque; procurement of tables and chairs for staff offices; renovation of twin 250-capacity lecture theatres; renovation of a 150-capacity lecture theatre; and procurement of two official vehicles for the Bursar and the University Librarian.

During the inspection, Professor Kawuwa stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards and directed the Director of Works to ensure that all projects are completed on schedule. He stated that the target completion date for the projects is early January 2026.

Professor Kawuwa also expressed appreciation to the University Governing Council for the confidence reposed in him to lead the committee.

In his remarks, Acting Registrar of the University, Mallam Garba Ahmadu Girgir, expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded and commended the initiative. He also noted that the projects, when completed, would greatly improve the teaching, learning and working environment of the University.

The committee comprises members drawn from both the University Governing Council and the Management, underscoring a collective commitment to institutional development.
