Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Murtala Usman has said that the insecurity situation in Kebbi State has became minimal due to the proactive measures taken by Governor Nasir Idris.

He stated this on Wednesday in the office of the Head of Service at the Cabinet Office in Birnin Kebbi when he presented the Union’s letter of grievances on insecurity to the state government.

According to Usman, before now, Kebbi State has experienced insecurity particularly on kidnappings and killings as well as attacks on innocent people in the state, but in a couple of days Governor Idris has taken drastic measures against all sorts of criminal activities.

“Part of these measures include provision of mobility and logistics to Army, Policemen, Vigilantes and local hunters in order to tackle insecurity across the state,” Usman said.

“The governor also set up a combined team of security personnel consisting of Policemen, Army, Vigilantes and local hunters to counter terrorism in all the twenty one local government areas of the state,” he added.

He cited as an example, the abduction of 24 schoolgirls recently who were rescued unhurt and reunited with their parents.

He noted that Kebbi State is now safe from insecurity because of the vigorous actions taken by Governor Idris.

Comrade Usman further appealed to civil servants in the state to remain calm and be law abiding, and be dedicated to duty as the Kaura-led administration is determined to uplift their standard.

Recieving the letter on behalf of Governor Idris, Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, commended the NLC in the state for exhibiting decorum in the protest.

The SSG assured of transmitting NLC’s letter to Governor Idris for consideration.
