Wealthy individuals tasked by Gumel Emir to engage youths in sports

….As Jogging FC lifts Emir’s 45th Year Anniversary Cup

The Emir of Gumel in Jigawa State, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Sani has urged wealthy individuals to keep youths busy through sports competitions aimed at distancing them from social vices in the society.

Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Sani was speaking during the final of 45th Silver Jubilee Anniversary of his Gala Soccer Competition held at Gumel Township Stadium.

The tournament was sponsored by the Registrar of Jigawa State College of Education, Alhaji Bala Isyaku to add colour i the celebrations activities.

The Emir who was represented by Dan Masanin Gumel, Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim Idris said keeping teeming youth busy through various sporting activities would go along way in distance them from anti social vices as well as contributing positively towards the overall development of sports in the local, state and the country at large.

”This is very good gesture from Bala Isyaku’s committee. We really appreciated, this is something that youth should be engaged in, so that we can avoid other vices. We need this kind of event to be organized regularly, so that the youth have some to do, so that they should takeoff the streets,” the Emir explained.

In their separate remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Jigawa State Football Association, Barde Muhammad Zakar, and Alhaji Isa Surajo described the championship as a huge success, pledging to continue supporting initiatives that will move the state forward.

In his own remarks, the Registrar of the Jigawa State College of Education, Gumel, and the tournament sponsor, Bala Isyaku, expressed satisfaction with all those who contributed in one way or another towards the success of the competition.

He described the 45th Anniversary of the Emir as a blessing to the Gumel Emirate and the state at large, calling on the people to continue to support the present administration’s commitment towards the upliftment of the state.

Bala Isyaku, who is also a seasoned Match Commissioner with the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), called on wealthy individuals and corporate organizations to partner with the state Football Association in order to move the game forward in the state and the country in general.

In the final match played, Jogging Football Club defeated Soccer Stars 5-4 in a penalty shootouts.

Highlights of the competition include the presentation of medals and trophies, as well as awards for the Best Behaved Team, Highest Goal Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, and the Third Placed Team (Maigatari FC).

Dignitaries from within and outside the state attended the final, including the Chairman of the Dala Hard Courts organizing committee, Alhaji Bashari Ahmad Gumel, and other traditional rulers.
