Governor’s Cup: CRSFA Fines 3 Teams ₦.5m Each

The Disciplinary Committee of the Cross River State Football Association has fined a sanctions to Local Government Teams that withdrew/dumped their designated centers of the competition.

The affected teams are Obubra United, Obubra Local Government Area, ABIWAVES FC – Abi Local Government Area and Akpabuyo United, Akpabuyo Local Government Area. Each team has been fined ₦500,000 for refusing to continue with their fixture obligations in the 2025 Sweet Prince Cup, thereby bringing the competition into disrepute.

The fine is to be paid within 30 days, failure of which will attract additional sanctions and possible suspension from future CRSFA competitions. The Association wishes all teams progressing to the second round, the best of luck.

The Cross River State Football Association has released the 2nd round pairings of the competition.

Meanwhile, a statement by the state’s FA Secretary Talabi Oke, all second-round matches will be played on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, while the quarter-finals are scheduled for Thursday, 27th.
