Kebbi Varsity VC Counts Blessings, Warns Critics

The Management of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science And Technology (AFUSTA) Aleiro in Kebbi State has said the University has completed two years promotion of its staff in all cadres within one year.

The promotion, according to the University, covered 2023 – 2024 while the 2025 is in progress and expected to commence immediately after the completion of the 2024.

This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Danshehu Bagudu Gwadangaji during a press briefing held at the Conference Hall of the University’s main campus in Aleiro on Thursday.

He added that the success of completing the 2024 promotion excercie within one year was as a result of setting aside N10 million from the University’s internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Prof. Danshehu Gwadangaji however, challenged anybody who is in doubt of the promotion exercise to approach the University management for clarification and confirmation.

Other achievements recorded within one year of Danshehu’s leadership of AFUSTA, courtesy of His Excellency Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu includes appointment of a functional Governing Council led by Hon. Hali Bala Jikandaudu, appointment of the fourth Substantive Vice Chancellor, increased monthly allocation from N5 million to N15 million, implementation of four years of outstanding annual increments, approval of consequential salary adjustment and new minimum wage, additional N10 million monthly support personnel in the College of Health Sciences, payment of students scholarship across disciplines, approval of N449,400.80 for MBBS accreditation, Nursing verification and National Medical Council accreditation exercise, monthly N5 million for strengthening University security architecture, approval of Kalgo Specialist Hospital as AFUSTA’s Teaching Hospital and renaming of the University after a famous scholar, Abdullahi Fodio, from its former name, Kebbi State University Of Science And Technology (KESUSTA).

The Vice Chancellor also revealed that he led AFUSTA through a period of accelerated development, anchored in accountability, innovation and purposeful leadership wherein NUC accreditation exercise, AFUSTA scored 98.8% with all programmes earning full accreditation including BSc Nursing, BSc Mathematics, BSc Statistics and BSc Biology which were achieved without external borrowing or emergency bailouts, demonstrating AFUSTA’s growing internal capacity and financial discipline.

Prof. Danshehu Gwadangaji frowned at critics who went on social media platforms condemning his performances in the institution, describing them as saboteurs and unpatriotic elements, calling on them to desist from such acts or face his anger.
