NUGA Games: ADUST wins bronze in 3000 meters race

A 400 level student of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Musbahu Hamza Yalwa, has won bronze medal in 3000 meters race at the ongoing 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA).

Over 91 universities across the country are competing in 24 events currently taking place at the University of Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Aliko Dangote University, competing in seven events, has so far won one gold and one silver medals in Judo (63kg) and heavyweight categories respectively. They have also lost out in the football quarter-finals and table tennis mixed double events.

Speaking exclusively with our correspondent covering the games, ADUST’s Director of Sports, Abdulsalam Abubakar Shandy expressed satisfaction with the performance of the students.

Shandy who described the university’s outing in the Games as a huge success. While commending ADUST’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai for his unwavering commitment and support, he assured that the sports directorate will continue to do its best towards projecting the good image of the institution as far as sports is concerned in the country.

He said that the directorate had concluded plans and strategies aimed at excelling in future future challenges.

The director however, expressed appreciation to the university’s major stakeholders for their support and cooperation, urging them to keep the tempo towards the overall development of sporting activities in the institution.
